Chapter 1

Commander Rommaya entered the interrigation cell in the Krell holding block. Going over to the centre of the room where the small circular platform held his prisoner in its red glowing forcefield coming up from the floor of the platform. Standing close to the platform the Commander's blue tinted skin took on a purpilish hue, there was a mocking smug look in his dark eyes as he stared past the forcefield at his prisoner, an older whitehaired man, with pale skin who kept his blue eyes staring straight ahead of him, refusing to look into his tormentors eyes.
Rommaya dressed in the dark green uniform of the Krell Military Elite now wore a thin sneering smile on his blue lips "I think I have given you long enough to think things over" the commanders voice was deep, almost a growl, "So Doctor Lorran, perhaps you are ready to talk to us and tell us what you know"
"I have no idea what you are talking about" The doctor replied stiffly now looking at Commander Rommaya "I demand that you release me, you have no right to hold me here I shall complain to the Krell Goverment if I have too, and you will be very sorry you ever had me arrested"
This threat had little affect on the Commander "Do not take me for a fool Lorann" he warned "You can stop this pretense, our intelligence agency knows that you have been leaking vital information to our enemies the Kamor, we have been keeping a close eye on that Hospital of yours, we have been watching who has been coming and going and we have seen Kamor secretly enter and leave the building, we know your sympathies lie with them, and you are in league with them"
"I don't know what you are talking about, I am a doctor not a soldier, I save lives not take them the doctor insisted refusing to show any flicker of discomfort, even though the forecefield around him meant he had been force to stand in this position for several hours and his legs were aching and cramped, he would not give Commander Rommaya the satisfaction.
Realising this Rommaya grew anger, his patience wearing thin at the doctorss stubborness "You Humans can be very trying, thankfully you are spread thin in this part of the Galaxy, but you will learn the hard way if you insist on crossing the Krell Regime, if you make yourself our enemy you will pay the price, maybe with your life"
Despite his discomfort Dr Lorann manage a weak smile knowing he was getting under the Commanders blue skin "Threats of death, typical Krell strategy, sometimes there are things more important than ones own life" he informed him. meaningfully . For a moment Rommaya frowned in annoyance, but then he suddenly smiled "You have made a valid point, there are some things precious than one's own life, some things one cannot put a price on, say like a loved one, a daughter maybe" he suggested lightly. Now the Doctor looked at the Commander sharply a look of alarm in his blue eyes which made Rommaya laugh "I thought that would get your attention doctor.
"What have you done with my daughter Alanna?" Lorann demanded
"You have no right, she has nothing to do with anything going on, leave her alone"
"Tell us what you know about the Kamor" The commander demanded "Then I will see what I can do"
The doctors mouth clamped shut again he refused to speak or look at Rommya.
"Very well doctor" Rommaya replied coldly "Have it your way" he walked swiftly over to the otherside of the cell pressing the communications button "Have the doctors daughter brought to his cell, I think its time she got to see her father" he said grimly.
"No" Lorann exclaimed in horrored dismay. "I told you she is innocent, she has nothing to do with this let her go, she is no use to you"
"On the contrary doctor, I think she will prove very useful to me" Commander Rommayer replied his lips twisiting into a grim smile.

Chapter 2

Alanna Lorann was feeling frightened and confused as she sat on the hard bench in the cell the Krell had put her in two hours ago,They had lifted her father twelve hours before her. she had protested and demanded to know what was going on, but no one had paid any attention to her, they had just left her fretting and wondering what was going on, this was some kind of horrible nightmare which she just wanted to wake up out of but couldn't, living on the planet Torah, which was deep in the Krell sector she worked alongside with her father in the Hospital just outside the large Krell Military Base. She had often felt wary of the Krell, they believed in conquering and dominating all the star systems around them, planets population, they bent them under their control, to go against them meant trouble, She was aware that those who put up a fight for freedom and independence from the Krell were ruthlessly crushed. Alanna's mother had died when she was a little girl, and her father had brought her up to stay out of politics and wars, they would not choose sides, they would heal whoever came to them, that was his job and Alanna had followed in his footsteps, that was why she was confused, why had she and her father been arrested,? they had always respected the Krell Goverment, avoiding any conflict with them, they were neutral, and up until now the Krell had always accepted that and left them alone to get on with running the hospital, why had'nt her father even saved many a Krells life? This was some sort of horrible mistake, she just wish they would hurry up and realise that and let her and her father go. She was at her wits end, but relief flooded through her when at last she heard one of the krell Guards come to open the door, at last, they had realised their mistake and they were going to release her. But the krell guard looked far from oplogetic, there was a hard look in his dark eyes as he stormed over to her "You come with me" he ordered gruffily grabbing her elbow with a firm grip that hurt and led her out of the cell, ignoring her protests at being manhandled in such a way. Walking her along the dark grey walled corridor with its dim orange lights on the overhead domed ceiling, they came to a halt outside a brown metal cell door, much like the one Alanna had just left, still keeping a hold on her the Krell guard punched the communications button on the wall next to the door "Commander "I have the doctors daughter here"
"Good bring her in" The commander replied from the otherside of the door then it slid open.
Alanna's blood ran cold through her veins as she caught sight of her father on the platform in the middle of the cell bathed in the red glow from the forcefield, managing to now break free of the guards hold she hurried over to him going as close as she dared. "Father, what is going on?" she demanded, then she turned to Commander Rommaya who stood nearby "What do you think you are doing, you have no right to do this to us"
"I have every right" Rommaya replied coldly "Your father is a spy he's been feeding information to our enemies the Kamor, if he does not tell us what we want to know he will die"
"Alanna blinked at the Commander as if he had gone mad "I believe your Krell paranoia has finally overtaken you Commander" she said in derision "My father is no spy, for the Kamor or anyone else, he is a doctor, we take no partin your affairs, he's always taught me that, we stand neutral, you know we do"
The Krell Commander was a good deal taller than Alanna's slight frame, and he now towered over her, his dark eyes narrowing "Do I? I'm not so sure" his tone was soft yet menacing
"Leave her alone" Her father doctor Lorann called out "I've told you she has done nothing wrong, just let her go, she knows nothing"
At this Commander Rommaya turned on his heels to face his prisoner  "Maybe she does'nt, but you do" he replied meaningfully, his stare peircing into the old man "Now is the time to confess, if you wish to see your daughter live"
"No" Alanna exclaimed in protest "You can't do this, my father is innocent, its ludicrus to suggest otherwise, he does not take sides I've told you that, has'nt he even healed and treated your people all these years, he's saved countless of their lives" she now turned to her father in desperation "Tell him father, tell him he's got it all wrong"
The long hours of being held within the forcefield had started to wear the doctor down, his body was aching and tired all he wanted to do was to lie down and sleep. He opened his mouth wanting to assure Alanna that the Krell were mistaken, but he had'nt got the effort to lie to her anymore, as he stared into her pleading brown eyes. His halfhearted attempt to defend himself, and the apolgetic look in his weary eyes was enough for Alanna to start putting a seed of doubt in her mind and realise with shocked dismay that the Krell Commander just might be telling the truth.

Chapter 3

Seeing the exchange between father and daughter, Commander Rommaya felt a sense of satisfaction, at the last the old man was going to admit his connection to the Kamor, now all he had to do was get the information he wanted out of him, and he was confident that would not take much persuasion, once the doctor realised that it could mean his daughters life. But before he could get the pleasure of pursuing his final attack, there was a loud explosion that rocked the building, then the sound of gun fire rattling in the distance the communications device on the wall crackled before a voice of a harrassed sounding Krell guard spoke "Commander, we are under attack, its the Kamor"
Getting over the shock that the Kamor had the audacity to actually attack in the heart of a strong Krell base Commander Rommaya turned to the guard in the cell with him "It seems the doctors friends have come to rescue him, they will not succeed they are no match for the Krell forces, but still we need to take precautions" with that he hurried over to release Doctor Lorann from the forcefield, the old mans legs give way and he crumpled weakly to the floor, Alanna hurried over to him "Father are you alright"
"Take the girl" The Commander ordered the guard, and once more Alanna found herself in the vicelike grip of the Krell soldier who forcefully dragged her away from her father whilst Rommaya went over and practically dragged the doctor to his feet "You are too precious yet to lose, you have important information I want, now tell me now, or your daughter dies" with that the Commander aimed his grey pistol at Alanna who was trying to struggle free from the guards hold, another explosion, even nearer than before, give the doctor some time to gather his wits "You underestimate the Kamor Rommaya, now you will pay the price for your over confidence" he said in defiance, angered by this Rommaya turned his gun on the Doctor, "I think it is you who are over confident Doctor" he said grimly, the sound of gunfire got nearer, Rommaya was on the verge of shooting the doctor and his daughter only the door opened revealing two greyskinned Kamor Rebels who rushed in aiming their weapons at the Commander and the guard who were now using their prisoners as their shields which caused a stalemate situation "Drop your weapons or they both die" The Commander ordered. He was'nt aware of the third person, a blackhaired earthling who had been creeping up and now swiftly entered the room with his weapon "I don't think so Rommaya" he stated and took a shot at the Commander wounding him in the side making him release the doctor and fall to the ground. The Krell Guard now swiftly turned to shoot the new intruder, but as he did so the doctor with the last of his strength threw himself in front of the line of fire and took the bullet squarely in the chest and collapsed to the floor "No, Alanna screamed and manage to break free from the guard just as one of the other Kamor riddled him with bullets. until he lay on the floor in a pool of his blue blood. Falling on her knees sobbing Alanna crawled over to her father she was joined by the darkhaired man who was now frowning in concern "Doc, it was'nt meant to be like this, I came here to rescue you, to get you outta here" he said in distress.
"It is too late for me" The doctor manage to wheeze, "A brave attempt I thank you my friend, but you must get away, get Alanna to safety, take her to Haven" it became more difficult for him to speak and his last words were no more than an urgent croak "Promise me Jerell, you'll get her safely to Haven" he squeezed his hand with what little strength he'd left.
"Of course Doc" Jerell replied solomnly "I promise"
"C'mon Jerell, we've gotta get out of here fast they'll be on us soon" one of his Kamor companions hissed as he glanced out the door and noticed the Commander starting to stir nearby with a groan, helplessly Jerell watched as the doctor heaved his last breath and closed his eyes to meet death "NO!" Alanna cried out throwing herself on top of him "Father you can't leave me, not like this" Knowing they had very little time to make good their escape Jerell managed to pull the distressed Alanna of her dead fathers body "C'mon we have to go, now I'm sorry" and with that he had to drag her protesting away out of the cell, leaving the man he had come to rescue lying lifeless in the cell. but there was no time to feel guilty or bad, the only thing on their minds was to escape and get out of the Krell base in one peice to get to their ship and keep his promise to make sure that Alanna would be safe.

Chapter 4

Alanna did not want to leave her dead father behind, she wanted to stay with him die next to him if neceserry, so it was'nt easy for Jerell who had to pull and drag her along the corridors of the Krell Holding centre as they dodged bullets and weapons fire from the surrounding Krell guards, he was beginning to think they were not going to escape, but somehow they manage to shoot their way out of the building, although he lost another one of his Kamor companions in doing so, which did not put him in a good mood, this rescue attempt had turned into a disaster, but he was determind to make the best of a bad situation, He and his four companions which were left along with Alanna finally managed to reach their ship, it was small and fast, just about doing for these type of attacks, now they had to get of the planet before the Krell blew them out of the sky.
For Alanna the whole thing was a blur, and she was still trying to take in what was going on around her as she found herself on the Kamor ship, all of them talking in urgent voices as they got the ship to take of, they were not out of danger yet, the Krell fired on them making the ship shudder, Alanna felt sure one way or another she was going to die. Sitting at the Helm and frowning over the various controls Jeller frowned "Dammit, this ship is'nt going to get us to Haven the shape she is in, we get hit by another Krell torpedo and we're gonners.
"We might be able to make it off this planet, but we'll have to land on one of the nearby offworlds" one of Kamar, who sat across at the other side of the ship informed him.
"Do it" Jerell replied "We'll contact Hanolin, give him our co ordinates hopefully they'll be able to find us before the Krell do" Once more Alanna felt the ship shudder as it was hit, sparks flew from the control panel, it was all to much for her, the last thing she remembered was Jerell swearing in annoyance as he tried to maintain control of the ship as she passed out into welcoming darkness.

When she awoke her body felt aching and stiff, she was aware that she was lying in some sort of bed or bunk, she could hear voices, but could'nt make out what was being said, she tried to lift her head, but it ached. slowly memories came seeping back of what had happened, she thought about her father and with a dawning sense of dispair realised he was not there for her anymore he was dead, she gave a little moan and broke down crying out for him, feeling the loss and the pain all over again.
Hearing her from where he stood just outside the door of their ship Jellor hurriedly scrambled back inside and went over to where she was lying, he knelt over her unsure of how to comfort her, feeling her pain and hurt mingle in with his own. Yet feeling responsible in many ways, that made him feel awkward as he attempted to put his arm around her to quieten her. "Its OK" he tried to soothe her. Alanna pulled away from him staring up at him with her tearstained face "Who are you?" she demanded "How do you know my father, I've never seen you before."
"Its a long story" Jeller replied "And right now I have'nt got time to go into it all, The Krell will be onto us soon, we've got to get out of here"
"W-where are we?" she now asked with dazed confusion and a frisson of fear going up her spine at the mention of the Krell.
"We manage to land on one of the off worlds" Jeller replied "We're lucky we're still all alive, but the ship is no more than a wreck, we're hoping our people will be able to come and rescue us soon"
"D-do you mean the Kamar?" Alanna asked guardedly
"Yes" Jeller replied
"You are not a Kamar, you are of the earthling race like myself" she then pointed out
"The Kamar and I have a common enemy, the Krell" Jeller replied bitterly.
"I did'nt think the Krell was interested in us earthlings, there are so few of us, they pay us little attention, why are they your enemy?" Alanna asked in bewilderment
"They made themselves my enemy when they killed my wife and children, because of my sympathetic stance towards those races the Krell dominate" Jeller informed her "But enough of this, we need to get away from here, two of my companions have gone to scout a good hiding place for us until help arrives, we must get away from this ship the Krell will find it soon, do you think you can stand?"
"Its not like I have much choice" Alanna replied, she manage to stand up with Jeller help, holding onto her he helped her climb out of the ship.
"Its starting to get dark, we need to find a place soon" he then told her.
He could feel her trembling she looked at him with wide frightened eyes "I'm scared" she then admitted.
Jeller managed a small smile trying to reassure her "Its gonna be alright, I'll get you outta here" and with that he kept his arm around her and supported her weak legs as they headed towards the thick wooded area where his Kamar companions were waiting for them.

Chapter 5

Alanna felt exhausted, she did'nt know how long they had trampled through the thick forest, it was dark and she stumbled and fell and Jeller had to help her on her feet on several occasions, finally they found a cave-like crevice at the foot of a steep hill, they decided it was the best place they were going to get. Alanna was grateful just to be able to rest, even if it was on hard ground that she found herself lying on "When do you think help will come?" she asked Jeller anxiously.
"I am not sure" he answered honestly, but didn't add that he wasn't even sure if his fellow Kamar even got the message they had send, he was just hoping that they had. "Why don't you sleep get some rest you need it after what you have been through" he then told her.
"I am tired, but I don't think I could sleep" Alanna replied "I just feel so confused about everything, the fact that my father was actually helping you and I knew nothing about it" her brow creased in a troubled frown "Why did'nt he tell me?"
"He was trying to protect you" Jeller replied "Your innocence of the whole thing kept you from the suspicions of the Krell" he then explained.
"But he was always warning me not to get involved, he told us that as Medics we could not take sides, that we had to care for everyone, I believed him, now I find out all this, its suddenly like my father has become a stranger to me, like I never really knew him at all" Alanna then said in distress.
"I suppose it is understandable" Jeller soothed "But your father was the man he seemed and believed in what you just said, The only reason he helped was because I asked him too, he and my father were good friends, and your father was an inspiration to me when I was young. he made me also want to study to become a doctor"
"But I never heard him mentioning you or your family before" Alanna protested
"My connections with the Kamar made me a dangerous friend to have, espicially when you live and work amongst the Krell." Jeller pointed out Alanna just nodded realising the validity of this point, but still felt betrayed somehow.
"Why did you need my fathers help, could'nt you do your own dirty work?" she then demanded.
The remark stung Jeller "Believe me if there had been any other way that I could do what I needed without your fathers help I would have, but we are desperate, your father was the least suspicious person and we done all we could to protect him."
"Well it obviously wasn't enough, he's dead now" Alanna said stiffly.  "Why did my father have to die? What did he die for? I need to know"
Jeller sucked in his breath, wondering how he could explain the situation to the young woman, who was staring at him accusingly, blaming him for her fathers death, but he was riddled with guilt over that himself, now he had to justify it.
"Have you ever heard of a planet called Haven?" he asked
Alanna frowned trying to recall then shook her head "Yes well I soppose the Krell have their own name for the place" Jeller realised. "Haven is a planet belonging to the Kamar, they can live there quite safely from the Krell, because the atmospheric makeup of the planet is poisionous to the Krell and can kill them, but that does'nt stop them from trying to destroy it, so far we have been able to defeat their attempts, but now the Krell have found a way to turn Havens atmoshere into that of their own planets, We were aware of their attempts at this, but learned that the Krell had made a significant breakthrough and intended to use their new Bacterial weapon to destroy us and take over the planet, With your father's help we were able to gain more information to help us combat such an attack and keep Haven safe for all those who want to escape from Krell tyranny. We were planning to get you and your father safely to Haven, only The Krell realised he was helping us before we got the chance, believe me nobody feels worse about your fathers death than me, I would have gladly given my life in exchange for his, now all I can do is keep my promise to get you to safety"
Alanna found this little consolation, she might be safe but she would be alone in a planet full of strangers her father give his life up for, it did little to lift her spirits "If you don't mind I would like to be alone now" she told him keeping her head down so he would'nt see the threatening tears that were starting to fill up.
"Of course" Jeller replied quietly "I understand" He got up to walk away but then stopped and turned to her again "Alanna, I just want you to know I am really sorry about the way things turned out, like I said if there had been any other way-" he broke of there, not knowing what else he could say to comfort her. Alanna curled herself up and closed her eyes still trying to come to terms with all that had happened.

Chapter 6

Jeller sat with his four Kamar Companions outside the mouth of the cave, keeping a watchful eye on the surrounding area, sky and ground for any sign of the Krell. One of his companions Mart was busy trying to repair the comunications device they had taken with them from their ship In an attempt to get in touch with their base, so they could get them of this planet. Jeller glanced inside the cave, and was glad to see that Alanna had fallen asleep, recalling their earlier convestation his expression became brooding. "We have'nt come out of this one very well have we?" he remarked "I've messed up good this time"
"It wasn't for the want of trying" Lonin, one of his other Kamar comrade remarked "The odds were always stacked against us for this mission anyway, Hanolin disaproved of it from you first suggested it.
"I know, but I had to try, I couldn't leave the doc in the hands of the Krell" Jerell frowned "If it hadn't been for him-" he broke of there "Dammit, I wanted to get him out of there alive" he exclaimed in anger.
"Don't start beating yourself up about it" Lonin told him "I know its hard, but we are lucky we have escaped, and we got the doctors daughter, we should just concentrate on getting us all out of here in one piece"
"Yeah, I soppose your right" Jerell agreed but still felt overwhelmed with guilt inside, after all he had been the one to approach Alanna's father, the man had been reluctant to get involved, but Jerell knew that Dr Lorann's sympathies lay with the Kamar, and deep down he dispised The Krell as much as everyone else, Jeller had played on this and the fact that their friendship went back a long way into co ercing the doctor into helping them and getting them the information he needed, Jerell had been over-confident about the doctors safety, now the man was dead, and his daughter probably blamed him and hated his guts, he did'nt blame her.
"Yes, I got it", the triumphant exclaimation of Mart distracted him from his morbid thoughts The communicater was working, Jeller went over to where Mart sat as he heard the crackling hiss and then the firmilar sound of his Commander Hanolin, Relief flooded through him. "Hanolin, tell us that help is on the way, I don't know how long we can hold out here before the Krell find us" Jeller stated urgently
"We got your Co ordinates, we will get there as soon as we can, if we don't run itno any Krell we should reach you in a few hours" Hanolin replied. then added in a regretful tone "I am sorry you were'nt able to save the Doctor"
"Not as much as I do" Jeller replied bitterly "All I wanna do is get the hell out of here now"
"Don't worry we are on our way" Hanolin replied.
"Ssshh" Jaxis, one of Jerells four companions suddenly hissed "I hear something" They all fell silent, they could hear faint rustling from the bushes and trees and a low whirring noise "Uh oh, I think they are on to us" Jeller realised grimly "We're gonna have to move and move fast" with that he jumped up, as did the others knowing they had little time to plan their escape from the Krell who were closing in on them.
Alanna found herself being shaken awake out of her dreamless sleep, and once more was confused by her surroundings and what was going on Mart was leaning over her talking in a low voice "C'mon we have to go the Krell are coming" he told her urgently, still a little dazed and very frightened , Alanna let him help her up and lead her out of the cave to where the others were waiting. She was trembling from head to toe, wondering if this nightmare was ever going to end.
"Are you alright?" Jeller asked in concern "I soppose so under the circumstances" Alanna replied stiffly.
"We are going to split up, and meet in the spot we arranged with our friends who will be coming to rescue us soon" Jeller informed her "I want you to go with Mart, understand?"
Alanna just nodded, she could hear for herself the Krell troops getting nearer.
"Right lets go" Jeller ordered, Mart took Alanna's hand and led her hurriedly away, it was starting to get light again, going through the forest was a little easier, but not much, she could hear the sound of The Krell shouting, they must realise that they were close on their trail and were searching for them with more earnest, Alanna felt her heart beating wildly as she ran with Mart through the thick undergrowth and trees to escape being found. She could'nt help thinking that they were never going to be able to escape.

Chapter 7

"I can't keep going" Alanna gasped feeling like she had no breath in her body, and her legs ached.
"You must" Mart urged her, "If they get us they will kill us" he had no sooner spoke, a shot from a Krell gun whizzed by their heads making Alanna scream, and suddenly find new energy to keep going.
"Damn" Mart exclaimed pulling her along with him, he then managed to find some thick bushes to hide in, urging Alanna to stay as quiet and as still as possible.
Alanna's heart was in her mouth as she heard the heavy footfalls of the Krell getting nearer, she closed her eyes and clutched Mart tight, hoping that that they would'nt be found. and wondering had the others escaped , she had heard more fires being shot in the distance.
Somehow the Krell soldiers seemed to have gone on past the spot where they were hiding, Alanna breathed a little easier, and waited for Mart to move before she dared "I think its safe enough now, we should go" he told her as he furtively looked around him before cautiously stood up.
"We are never gonna make it out of this place" she mumbled in dispair.
"They haven't got us yet" Mart replied "I wish you had left me with my father" Alanna told him miserably
"There is no time for feeling sorry for yourself" Mart told her curtly "We have to get moving, c'mon" and with that he grabbed her arm and pulled the reluctant Alanna along.
But Mart had miscalculated their safety, as out of nowhere Krell soldiers appeared and surrounded them., Mart opened fire, and yelled for Alanna to run, she was reluctant to move, frozen with fear, but then he shoved her roughly in the direction where there was a gap in the Krell defenses.
Alanna found herself running once more for her life, scared to look back, when she realised That Mart was no longer there with her she was filled with dismay, One of the Krell soldiers was closing in on her, she did'nt know where she got the energy to keep running, she stumbled and ran blindly not knowing where she was going, then suddenly she felt someone grab her and put their hand over her mouth and pull her to the ground. "Oh no" Alanna thought into herself this was it she was going to die.

Chapter 8

She wanted to scream, but could'nt because of the hand over her mouth, she struggled feebly trying to escape her captor, only stopped when she realised it was Jeller, he pulled her down flat on the ground next to him and motioned a warning for her to be quiet, only when he realised that she understood did he let go of her, It took all of Alanna's strength to keep in the threatening sob of relief as she heard the Krell soldier pass them nearby.
Jeller waited several moments listening for others, but it was quiet bar for the wind rustling the leaves in the trees overhead "What happened to Mart?" he demanded in a low voice.
"I-I don't know" Alanna replied in a trembling voice "I think the Krell got him, I was so scared" she began to cry, the tears streaming freely down her face "there was nothing I could do, he told me to run a-and when I looked round for him he wasn't there" she tried to explain.
"Ssshh its ok" Jeller put his arms around her to comfort her but filled with further dismay because Mart had their communicater, and now it might be in krell hands "damn" he thought into himself. "c'mon he told her, we have to keep going help should arrive soon" he then said
"I can't" Alanna shook her head still crying "I can't take no more, I'm sorry" Jeller crushed down the sense of frustration building up in him and put his arms around her again, letting her get it out of her system, the poor girl had been through a lot this last twelve hours or so, it wasn't really surprising that it was all too much for her, but they had to keep moving, he had to make her realise that.
"It will be alright, we have'nt far to go" he soothed her we get to our destination and the Kamar will pick us up and get us safely away from here" he then told her. "c'mon" he added gently helping her up "Its going to be ok".
Still sniffing and wiping her eyes she followed him, hoping he was right., she was feeling too numb and weary to care anymore.
Jeller approached their final destination with caution, he gave a low whistling sound that would signal to the others if any of them had survived the Krell to also reach the spot, his heart sank when he got no replying response, he did'nt let Alanna see his disapointment and managed a small smile help will arrive soon, we'll wait here among the trees, we should be safe enough"
Alanna did'nt reply, she was not in an optomistic mood.
"How did you get involved in all this, why did the Krell kill your wife and child?" she asked , suddenly curious about this man who claimed to have been a friend of her fathers
"Like I said its a long story" Jeller replied, "but basically I guess it started when I worked in a clinic on the Planet of Preena 4, The Krell treated the Preenan's like slaves, when they tried to rebel, The krell tried to wipe them out, they forbid any doctor to help them, but the Preenans came to me and I treated them secretly. When the krell found out, they came after me and the Preenans helped me to escape their clutches it was then that the Krell arrested my wife and child and had them publicly executed, to warn other doctors what might happen to them if they disobeyed the Krell."
"That was awful" Alanna exclaimed in dismay, I-I knew the Krell could be ruthless but I did'nt realise just how much"
"Yeah, well I decided I would be as ruthless as them and wipe out every Krell I could, I gave up being a doctor and joined the Kamar in their fight against the Krell, I won't be satisfied until they are completely wiped out" he finished coldly.
It made Alanna shiver to hear the hardness in his tone. And as much as she understood Jellers need for revenge she could'nt be quite so cold blooded.

Chapter 9

"Come on, come on" Jerell muttered into himself as he glanced up in the sky looking out for the rescue ship, he knew it was only a matter of time before the Krell found them.
A noise from the nearby trees made him turn his gun swiftly in that direction, ready to fire on any Krell that came within sight, but it was Lonin who stumbled into the opening.
Jerell quickly lowered his gun "Why did'nt you give the signal, dammit, I could have killed you" he snapped
"There is'nt time" Lonin panted
Alanna now noticed he was bleeding from his leg "You are injured" she exclaimed going over her instincts as a medic taking over.
"I'll be ok" Lonin hurriedly insisted then noticed there was only Jerell and Alanna, "What happened to the others?" he asked but did'nt want to hear the reply.
"We are not sure" Jerell replied, "Hanolin should be here by now" he then added
"Thats if they have'nt run into any Krell" Lonin reminded him gravely.
"We are never going to get out of this place" Alanna said in dispair.
"We are going to have to move again soon, the Krell will come looking for us again" Lonin then pointed out
"Mart had the communicater, if we had that-" Jerell broke of there as an idea came to him "The krell have commucation devices, if we could get our hands on one of theirs we could fix it so it would read our signal, we could get in touch with Hanolin faster"he then grinned wickedly "I think instead of the Krell finding us, we should start finding them, or I should at least, I want you to stay here with Alanna" he then ordered Lonin
"This is crazy" Lonin objected "You are on their most wanted list, they just have to catch sight of you and you are dead" he reminded him.
"Then I'll just have to make sure they don't" Jerell replied. "Its our only chance, and if anything does happen to me, there is still the hope that Hanolin will get here and be able to get you and Alanna out of here safely"
Lonin did'nt like it, but knew Jerell too well to try and stop him he would'nt listen to reason, always wanting to take crazy risks. "Just try and make it back here in one piece" he told him.
"Don't worry" Jerell replied grimly "I intend to"
Alanna was a little confused by it all she watched Jeller get up on his feet "W-where are you going?" she asked.
"You just stay with Lonin" he told her "I will be back soon"
Before she could say anything else he was gone, disappearing into the bushes "What is happening now?" Alanna asked
"I am not sure myself" Lonin sighed, we will just have to sit tight and wait" he told her, hoping that Jerell could carry out his crazy mission without getting himself killed.

Chapter 10

"I can't believe he has gone and left us here!" Alanna exclaimed in dismay "What if the Krell come?"
"You are just going to have to use this" Lonin replied handing her a gun.
She stared at it in her hand, not quite believing what he was saying "I can't use one of these" she protested "I-I have never used one, I could'nt"
"When it comes to you saving your own life against the Krell you learn pretty fast" Lonin replied and started to show her how to use it "Its just incase the worse comes to the worse" he then added.
Alanna just hoped it did'nt she still was'nt sure she could use the weapon, or capable of killing anyone even the Krell, it made the blood run cold through her veins. "Is Jerell really as crazy as he is acting now?" she found herself asking "Its like he's got a deathwish going after the Krell"
"I suppose that is one way of putting it" Lonin smiled dryly "Yeah and most of the times he is crazy, revenge drives him to do crazy things, he does'nt care if he lives or dies, just as long as he can get hitting back at the Krell."
"Yes, even if it means dragging other people into his personal battles like my father and getting him killed" Alanna then retorted.
Lonin frowned "Jerell was very fond of your father, he went out of his way to try and rescue him, risking our necks, not that we did'nt want to rescue the doctor, without his information my planet may not have survived for much longer, But your father did'nt want to see Haven destroyed anymore than the rest of us, he knew it is our only hope, he willingly helped us, he wanted to help us, don't blame it all on Jerell, your father wanted to do the right thing, it was just unfortunate he died for it, but a lot of people have died, that is why we want to end the Krell tyranny" he told her.
Alanna fell silent unable to reply or argue instead she changed the subject "Here let me tend to that wound on your leg, I might as well, as we have nothing more we can do at the moment"
"Yeah" Lonin agreed grimacing a little as the pain shot up his leg. "That sounds like a good idea to me"
Alanna spent a few moments examining the wound and attempting to clean it with the edge of her dress, not looking up at Lonin she asked "Do you think he will make it back?"
"I hope so" Lonin replied "I really hope so"
Despite her earlier outburst Alanna found herself hoping so too.

Jerell crept up on the unexpectant small group of Krell troops that had stopped to take a break in their search. There was three of them
"Not too bad, he had taken out six at one time singlehandedly" Jerell thought into himself loftily, still he was going to be careful, there might be others nearby. He had to get his hands on one of their communicaters, it would mean a better chance getting in touch with Hanolin and the ship to get them out of here, he had nothing really to lose anyway, he just did'nt like the idea of the Krell getting the better of him, espically now, not after them killing his friend the doctor, he would get his revenge for that and all the other lives the Krell had taken.

Chapter 11

Jerell moved swiftly, taking the Krell by suprise when he opened fire on them, he managed to shoot two of them the other got injured but was able to get away, probably to get help or backup, Jerell knew he had to move fast, he hurried over to one of the bodies of the Krell he had just shot and searched for his communicater device, and smiled triumphantly when he found it, taking it he was about to turn and leave only found his way blocked by the sudden appearance of The Krell commander Rommaya with a few of his henchmen, all of them had their guns pointing directly at Jerell.
The commander was smiling his smug smile again "This time Jerell there will be no escape for you" he replied "Your days of getting in the Krells way are over, I intend to see to it personally myself"
Jerell did'nt seem to upset "Go ahead Rommaya, the Krells days are numbered anyway, we are gaining more allies everyday, Haven keeps getting stronger, you might kill me, but you won't be able to stop your downfall" he stated with certainty. He could see the Commander get angry and aim his gun at Jerells head ready to fire. Jerell sucked in his breath, waiting for the fatal shot he always knew was coming his way.
He heard the gun go off, but felt nothing, more gunfire, Jerell watched as Rommaya and his two henchmen fell down to the ground, it was only then he noticed Lonin standing behind them with his weapon in his hand, and then from out of the nearby trees Alanna rushed out going over to Jerell.
"What are you doing here I told you to wait back there" Jerell exclaimed
Lonin smiled "I listen to you as much as you listen to me" he replied "now c'mon, we've got the coomunicater, the Krell will be here after hearing all the gunfire we gotta go" he then said urging his friend towards the trees again
"Are you ok?" Jerell found himself asking Alanna
"Yes" she managed a small smile "As long as you are, I thought you were a gonner"
"So did I" admitted Jeller "C'mon we're getting out of this place" he then told her, for once feeling they really stood a chance, and getting great satisfaction out of knowing that Rommaya was dead.
It did'nt take long for Lonin to get the communicator working, they were able to get in touch with Hanolin, who sounded relieved to hear them "We did have a slight run in with the Krell up here" he admitted "But nothing we could'nt handle, we will have you on board soon just stand by" he informed them
"You see" Jeller grinned at Alanna "Told you I would get you outta here" his smile faded a little and he frowned "I only wish I had been able to save your father too"
"Don't be too hard on yourself, you did everything you could, I know that now, it was'nt your fault" Alanna replied
Hearing her say that lifted Jerells spirits up a little. "I am glad you don't hate me no more"
"I never did really" she admitted.

Chapter 12

Hanolin kept his word, it was'nt long before the ship made an appearence much to Jerell's relief, but as it landed on the ground to pick them up the Krell appeared and started firing on them, from the ground and the air, Jerell Alanna and Lonin raced for their lives for the opened door on th Kamar ship, which took swiftly off when it got them safewly inside and firing back at the Krell.
Once more Alanna found her heart pounding, seeing how pale she was Jerell squeezed her hand "Its going to be ok now, we have made it through the worst of it" he assured her
Alanna managed a small smile trying to be braver than she really felt. she was exhausted and hungry and just wished for some kind of normality back in her life after these past few crazy days.
She felt a little easier when the ship stop shaking and learned that they had outran the Krell and were safely out of their way, The Kamar ship was bigger and had the luxuries of food supplies and somewhere for Alanna to get cleaned up, they were all very kind to her, all telling her how sorry they were that her father had died and what a good man he was, It was too much for Alanna who broke down into tears again as she tried to thank them.
Jerell came over and put his arms around her and she wept on his shoulder, half with relief and half with sadness.
"Its going to be ok" he told her gently, "I want you to come with me for a moment" he then told her.
She followed him as he led her to one of the window views across the room "see there" he pointed to a large blue planet dotted with purple and and dark red, landmarks "That is Haven" he informed her "Your new home, the place where your father wanted you to be, I believe it looks very similar to our old earth world he then informed her smiling
"I-it looks pretty"Alanna admitted with a sniff
"It is" Jeller informed her "I think you are going to like it, a place free from the Krell, and where you will make friends, I am not saying it will replace your father, but you won't be alone" he assured her.
"Yes I think I realise that now" Alanna smiled a little as she stared out the window at the planet and slipped her hand into Jerells, and suddenly feeling she had some kind of future again.
