Dont Know Better

~By Amie Martial

I'm so young
I'm so innocent
I let you walk all over me
I let you bend me to my will
I thought that the world knew better than I

I'm so naive
I'm so insecure
I let you tell me what to do in every aspect of my life.
I let you tell me how to raise my child
and watched as she would cry for me everyday, every night.
Because I thought since you were older that you knew better.

I'm so young and afraid
I'm worried about being everyones friend
I will bend over backwards to make you like me
when I don't even like myself
I let you walk all over me

You dictate
You shove your ideals on me
You are bigger, older, better
and I let you
I'm just little old me

Will I EVER learn?
or will I just endure the pain?
will I take charge?
will I be the one to tell you off?
Shove your ideals back down your own throat and watch you choke on them?

I'm so young
I'm so innocent
I let you walk all over me
I let you bend me to your will
I thought the world knew better than I
