Falling

~By Aerous

One morning waking after sleep,
I though of you and began to weep.
Recalling memories from the past,
I suddenly realized they would not last.
I begged and cried you would not die,
but alas I knew it was a lie.
Remembering a special place,
this day, I thought I fell from grace.

In dreams of soaring through the sky,
a thought occurs; "I've gone too high."
Soon to lose the feeling I'd found,
I begin to plummet toward the ground.
Then it seemed, it was too late,
ironic tragedy, oh twist of fate.

Abruptly after, I awake,
and in cold sweat I begin to shake.
Throughout the day I slowly find,
that fear of Death has plagued my mind.
I can't believe that Death could be,
the end of you... the end of me...
And yet the facts seem to insist,
that when we die, we don't exist.
For many years I lived in fear,
that you and I would disappear.
As if to strengthen what I feared,
two friends of mine... they disappeared.

And in the dream, before the end,
I looked around and saw a friend.
He looked at me and then he spoke,
and in my dream... I awoke.
I took control and grabbed a tree,
then saved the man who had saved me.
Now dying I no longer fear,
and when I listen I still hear.

"You don't have to fall."
