Ode to Edgar

In drab and dreary hour
walked the empty life gone sour
and creeps behind your shoulder to weigh their lifeless boulders
and makes you weep and wonder
if life like his turned under
and sorrow fills and clouds your mind
to lend a hand or lend a dime
and fill all lifeless thoughts like wine
you live the day with goodness drawn
and die at peace from deed's you've done
but lifeless souls live on and on...
