My Last Day

~By Stacy Bushir

My last day
It was just an ordinary day,
Fighting with bothers and sisters
As I got ready for school,
I walked out the door
Never knowing that it would be the last time,
I walked in the road to school,
Cause there were no sidewalks,
Now I’m lying here on the road
The kid who did it beside me
Telling me to “Hang in there”
The pain is sharp,
I can hardly breath,
I can hear sirens
Paramedics are putting me in the ambulance,
They’re taking me to the hospital,
Now I lie here in bed,
Trying to hold on to my life,
I can hear the doctor say,
“He’s not going to make it though the morning”
Now an angel is here beside me,
He’s telling me I have to go now,
So good-bye Mom
Good-bye Dad
Good bye everyone
And know that I’ll always be with you.

Comments: In loving memory of Corbin Haff
