Tides of Emotion

~By EastTnMtnMan

The tides of emotion, they ebb and flow.
As was my decision to let you go.
Every morning waking anew,
Past memories fall like morning dew.
As the day creeps forth,
I find my self asking, what am I worth?
As I think back on the things I've done,
Sorrow and guilt are the thing I've won.

The tides of emotion, they ebb and flow.
Life goes on, of this I know.
The sun sets, and the day turns to night.
I find myself asking, Lord why my plight?
Like a thunderous storm, down falls the rain.
It was never my intention to inflict so much pain.
You were the flower for the world to see.
I was the poison, like the sting of the bee.

The tides of emotion, they ebb and flow.
I forced you to move on, and made it so.
You touched my life and opened my eyes.
But I was the one you would come to despise.
I felt the love and tenderness you had for me,
but I had to be honest and set you free.
Monthes went by and I tried bury the past.
Then you said "I forgive you" giving me peace at last.
