Lonely

~By Carin Reading

Once again
In the middle of the night
Will you need me
To hold you tight
Once again

Each night I lay here wondering
Just where our love went wrong
If we are going to make it
Or if our time has come

As I lie awake in the darkness
And the silent tears fall
I cannot help but ask God
Why this has to be all

And He comes down from heaven
And wraps me in His arms
Filling me with His peace
And giving me strength to go on

I want you to reach for me
To bring your body close to mine
But instead you hide your face
And your back is all I find

As I wrestle with what to say
And fear the words will be in vain
I cry out His name
Then bow my head to pray

And He comes down from heaven
And wraps me in His arms
Filling me with His peace
And giving me strength to go on

So each night as I wonder
And gather the will to go on
I am crying out to God
So that someday our love will be strong

And He comes down from heaven
And wraps me in His arms
Filling me with His peace
And giving me strength to go on

And once again
In the middle of the night
You may need me
To hold you tight
Once again

Comments: Dedicated to my husband, one day we will be strong. I love you.
