Paper In The Breeze

~By Robert Griffith

Like a piece of paper,
I flutter in the breeze,
Did not know how to live,
Opportunities few to seize.

In a nutshell,
I’ll tell you a tale,
Of a life spent wasted,
Words destined to fail.

Born into bad humor
A little boy that lied,
No one ever meant,
My heart for me to hide.

They passed me up,
And brought me down;
As a poor student,
I looked like a clown.

Many years spent saying,
That life was like a game,
And now I live hidden,
Heart beating in shame.
