Monster In The Corner

~By Kapeka

Late at night when all is dark I lie awake in bed
I listen to the wind outside trying to get in
Over in the corner, much to my surprise,
I hear a bump, and then a thump and then my heart beating wild
The Monster in the corner has come for me at last
To take me to a land of dread
Where children never sleep on beds
A land where right is always wrong
Where children never sing happy songs
Where candy tastes like vegetables
And summers are unmentionable
My Monster in the corner is coming closer still
I know its going to get me
I must do something quick
A single note escapes me and fills my head with hope
And in a warp-speed moment my Mother rushes in
She saves me from this creature
And takes me to her bed
So if you have a monster that comes to you at night
Make sure you call your mother to save you from this fright
