Heroes And Dreams

He came into her life like an angel
She blames her fall on his handsome, Marine uniform
A young wife carrying their only child
A widow without her hero
Holding onto their broken dreams
She sits down and screams out his name
A single mother battled cancer
Years of holding on took a toll
It wasn't until her son went to live with her parents
It wasn't until then he realized something
He realized how much he loved her
How many dreams she had for him
But she'd never know she was his hero
Beautiful to parents' eyes
The doctor claimed she'd be quite right
She was never a normal child
They found their hero and she realized her dream
When she won that gold medal
Surrounded by models of Enterprise
Posters of its' crewmembers and Captain Picard
A young girl grows up with stars in her eyes
She serves her country because of her heroes and dreams
Heroes and dreams
Sometimes dreams don't go as planned
Heroes come to us when least expected
And go just as easily
The greatest chapters in our lives aren't planned
History isn't written before
Heroes and dreams write it afterwards
