Enemy Or Ally

It's part of your life, from start to finish and before that, before you and I
You know it well, for you see it's your friend and your enemy
Fighting you, and defending you from everything around you
You know it's there, you wish it would go back, but it won't you know that
Music, life, recording, testing, it helps you, to keep things in sight, for you to know
Look, you can see it, things show it, in different ways, there showing the span
You know you're late, you know you're early, pity sometimes it goes too fast
Walk with it, be friends, it's helping you, isn't it?
But it has an ugly side, that you don't want it to have, it's permanent, your not
When it started, it began to reduce it numbers, it's a bomb, waiting to go off
You'll be the explosion if your not careful, why can't we fight it? Use it?
It's clever, none one can master it. It sees us, it destroys and makes us.
Your still wondering what it is. But it's there, reducing you, but building, a reversion.
Let it fight you, let it guide you, let it remind you, that life is a timer, set to nothing
From everything it will show you, but it won' let you know. What is it? A hint?
