The Plane

Not a word was spoken between us,
As I headed for the plane,
Until one last look back into her eyes,
Betrayed her hidden pain,I pulled her tight against my chest,
And she whispered tearfully,
Just these four simple words
"Please stay with me"I looked down into her tortured face,
Not knowing what to say,
If only she knew I'd give the world,
To hold her one more day,But instead I kissed her on the cheek,
And knowing we could never be,
Gently I pulled away,
Her tears the saddest sight I'll ever see,
