In This Town of Life
~By Sharlynn Van Luven (M@ble)
The birds sing of imaginable tunes as the sun rises
to greet the morning dew.
The sunlight shines as a glowing sphere that gives
wisdom to its name.
A humble town nearby is busied with vendors at the
market and a fountain
rains down its crystal petals,
That flow into a steady stream.
Merry children race down the streets and alleys and are
mixed up in a crowd of bidders that are
Frantically extending their bare hands, in hopes that
they will outbid the very person next to them.
The few trees that stand tall in this town sway as a
mystical breeze approaches,
And the birds that were once singing with joyous
delight,
Are keeping a strong hold on their precious nest that
carries their young.
By noon the bidders have left the auction and the
vendors who were once selling their goods have
vanished.
The children are inside their loving homes eating their
meals
That were kept warm when they were outside playing and
laughing in the sun's glare.
All is silent and all is calm as the sun drifts back
under the cobblestone road that leads its twisted way
into the town.
As the stars up above the heavens come out from their
daytime rest,
And the children snuggle into their cozy, comfortable
beds,
All are reminded of the wonderful days passed,
And the adventurous ones yet to come...
In this town of life...
Called Cobble Stone Lake.
