Death Of A Planet

~By Leihana

In a velvet sky the stars stood bright,
The planet was a lovely sight,
It glowed in shades of green and blue,
And specks of cloud were glistening.
Its beauty filled the forward view,
Its peace was deep and pure and true,
It filled the dark of space with light,
To evil's lure not listening.

The galactic centre of learning and art,
In conflict never taking part,
Alderaan's law was for love and respect,
And weapons not allowing.
The peaceful way they'd always elect,
Enemies they'd no cause to expect,
And innocence was in their heart,
Of evil nothing knowing.

Then a lance of bright green light shot out,
A the Death Star spat death from its mouth,
And Alderaan, no longer blue,
Lit up the sky on detonating.
The air was flame, the shards they flew,
Betrayed they never knew by who,
And death flared sudden as a shout,
And in the Force was resonating.

A blinding flash of searing light,
A fireball burning red and white,
And millions of voices combined in one roar,
As Alderaan was blowing.
When the flare died down 'twas dark once more,
Much darker than it had been before,
And Alderaan is forever in night,
No longer bright and glowing.

Now Alderaan is there no more,
Only few survived of those it bore,
The asteroids float in space alone,
Like tears they are a-glistening.
What remains is more than rock and bone,
And now after all the pain they've known,
Its children tell of Alderaan's lore,
And all fall silent, listening
