The Blade Of The Sword

In a time of princes and princesses
When wizards cast mystical spells
Dragons roamed with fire on their breath
The blade of the sword was the weapon choice
The sword was much more than a blade
A blade was more than a piece of metal
Not just a claim upon a weapon
But a connection between man and possession
Excalibur is just one instance
A young man became king with sword there with him
King Arthur could have rose without it
But he became everlasting in history with it
Many people slept on a prowling night
When dangers lurked and a knight stood guard
With a gleam of blood from a dragon slain
The blade of his sword kept them safe one more night
