Coffee Shop Blues

~By R. Scott

There he sits on the corner
Watching the people go by
I’ve seen him every day there
Don’t want to know who or why

Nursing a cup of coffee,
He’ll watch you as you walk
Perhaps he’ll stop you for a quick chat
If he’s in the mood to talk

The coffee’s like a drug for him
Not once has he failed to arrive
Every day on the hour
He sits regains his perch
As the beady eyed observer
In the coffee shop opposite the church
