Unfulfilled Wishes
~By Matt Russell
Have you ever wished for a love
That was so genuine and pure,
One in which the world melted away
And everything became suddenly so sure?
A love that seems unreal
And cannot be explained,
One that chases sadness far away
Letting joy be all that remained.
Sometimes I sit and wonder
Why I cannot find a love like this,
And what may be the reason
To which I am denied to enjoy such bliss.
Does such a thing exist
Outside of a fairy book tale,
Or is it all just a big lie
Told by those who wish to see us fail?
O where is this love I ask
To those that have promised such a thing to me,
When is it my turn to feel this joy
How much longer do I have to simply wait and see?
I suppose by now I should give up
And let go of my heart’s fight,
For now I’ll just venture forth
And be consumed by the blackness of depression’s night.
