God's Tears

~By Amanda Sielu Paris

Some believe God is angry
He may never flood again
But He'll strike us down
I know He forgives us
Though we've broke His heart
When He's done nothing but give

He gave His only son
Tried to purify our souls
To drink the wine and eat the bread
Wash away our sins to start again
But still we break the Father's heart
And in our darkest hours
That's when the clouds roll in
When God's tears fall on us of His own heartache

In seven days He gave us it all
We gave Him a broken world
Complete with crime in the streets
Babies cry for a mother who never answers
That's when the clouds cover the sun

God, don't cry
Despite all our faults, after 9/11
The cheats, the lies
You see our good deeds
The pews that fill in
I know You feel our love
Because we feel Your love
