Shades Of Gray

Why would he ever leave me?
This I do not know
My heart is frozen like a ball
Of freshly fallen snow
My love is like a wreath
I'd hang about his neck
For he is like a brother
But to him I'm now a fleck
Of nothingness, of minute
Amounts of flesh and bone
Of trace amounts of person
And from him now alone
I must go, I must endure
Until my dying day
Without the brother I cherish so
My world's now shades of gray.
