Dream Dancers

~By Steve Daggett

Mystery-
Lifeless shadows lay in the room.
A soft almost tearful song...
Beckoning them to dance.

Silent music plays,
An invisible symphony.
The children of the night
Come alive with expectancy.
The shadows now run, and laugh,
And dance.

Red eyes, glistening,
Cloaked in a sparkling shroud,
Waltz with the singer.

But silent thunder rears
Its distasteful head.
Knocking the dancers to the ground;
Like pawns in a game.

All lay silent in the room,
No more dancing for the shadows now rest.
Only the sound of the raindrops outside,
And the song - welcome the quiet.
Nothing moves.
And the singer sings again
Weaving a web of tragedy-
Breaking the silence.
