Tell Me

~By Kali D’or

They tell me I can see the stars from here.
I can’t.
They tell me the midnight sky is so clear I can see forever.
No, it’s not.
They tell me the light from the stars is so old I can see the past.
I wish I could.
If I could see it,
I could touch it, change it?
Take away the years, take back choices.
Mistakes and decisions made,
Words spoken in anger and fear,
Words of love and understanding.
Do it all over again, or not.
What did it all mean? Was it worth it?
They say I can talk to the stars.
I am.
They are not listening.
They tell me to wish on a falling star and my wish will come true.
Tell me how.
How can I wish on a star I cannot see?
Because of the tears that blind my eyes
