Here and Now

We met one fateful night
attraction came quicker than I could know.
The months passed and I held the secret
until one day you noticed me
friends we were for so long
Both unsure of how we should act.
Through the months we laughed together
Spent time together and had fun together
Then you kissed me
And my whole world changed
I knew no one but you
The months came and went
Our hearts changed, leaving both hurt
But love remained
Now 2 years later you are again back in my arms
Your eyes search mine as you confess your love for me
"You have ruined me for any other woman," you say
but we are only friends!
Where do we go from here?
What about tomorrow? What about next year?
Were we meant for each other?
Are there others meant for us?
What does the future hold?
Will this last? Is the here and now enough to last?
I ask the questions that fill my head
but I must stop asking when your lips press against mine
Whatever the out come, we love, in the here and now.
