The Only Thing I Pray

~By Sharlynn Erin Van Luven (AKA. M@ble)

You won't be there
Underneath my tree
I won't be able to feel you
Holding onto me.

The only thing this Christmas
I won't be able to see
Is you knocking on my front door
Standing right in front of me.

It's the only thing I have asked for
The only thing I pray
To find you sitting beside the tree
That early Christmas Day.

And I know that it won't happen
And that this is just a dream
But the dream of you is what keeps me going
And thinking of the times we went fishing by the stream.

This Christmas I won't find you
Sitting beside the tree
You won't be there to give me hugs
And set me down on your knee.

The only thing I pray
Is that God is keeping you safe
Holding you in his arms
Keeping you in his embrace.

That star upon the tree
Seems less brighter this year
With you not being home
And me with these fallen tears

I know that you aren't here this Christmas
And never will see our star again
But I will see you in heaven some day
For this is not the end.
