The Dawn of War
~By Damo Lythria
We watch and wait for the dawn of War,
Like many soldiers have before,
The blackness creeps throughout the stars,
A Bleak bewilderment fills our hearts,
We see and say, but do not do,
What many think we should see through.
We live and fight and die in war.
We only long to explore,
The stars and moons and worlds out there,
But we now raise our guns and stare.
Is this what life is all about?
To wait in silence, to never shout.
To raise our sticks and cry in fury?
To fight and win a battles glory.
And so we wait for the dawn of war,
Like many soldiers have before.
And so those soldiers fight and die.
Now, it’s our turn for the battle cry.
Poet's Comments: This is based on Star Trek: Nemesis...I have tried to convey
the emotion Picard and the crewmen of the Enterprise would have felt
before confronting Shinzon, and the Scimitar.
