The Gift

~By Polson

He gave me a gift.
It wasn’t fancy.
Wrapped in brown paper
But on top
Was a big red bow
Unsure of what to expect
Taking the present
With an excited smile
Then carefully undid the bow
Setting it aside
Off came the brown paper
The box opened
What is it?
He just smiled and said
"Wait and see.";
It lives in my pocket
It has since then
Not knowing what it was
Enjoying the gift anyway
Sometimes it was hard
But He was always there
In His time
He revealed what the gift was
Some remember the ugly brown paper
The gift was wrapped in
Thinking of it as a fault
But when looking at my gift
All I see is the big red bow.
