Weezer

Genre: Rock

Weezer is a rock band that was formed in Los Angeles California. Its members are, Rivers Cuomo on vocals and guitar, Brian Bell on guitar, Scott Shriner on bass and Patrick Wilson on drums. They played shows and despite not having much success they still pressed forward. After six months of playing together, Weezer was signed by DGC records.(If you’re not familiar with this record company, it was the same one that signed Nirvana). Then they moved to New York to record their songs, but during the recording the guitarist at the time, Jason Cropper, left the band to take care of his wife who was pregnant with his first child. (He went on and started a band called chopper one). Brian Bell replaced him.

Weezer's self-titled debut album (also called ,the blue album), was released on May 10, 1994. It was a hit from the start. They released three singles; undone(The Sweater Song), Buddy Holly and Say It Ain’t So. They eventually went double platinum and Buddy Holly won several MTV Music Awards. They then toured the U.S. and then the world. After they got done touring, Rivers went to school at Harvard, Matt and Patrick worked on a new ban that they started call The Rentals, and Brian resumed work with an old band of his, the space twins.

Early 1996, the band went back into the studio to create another CD but this time they produced the album by themselves. This album was called Pinkerton. The CD went gold in record sells. After Pinkerton was produced, Matt Sharp the bassist at the time, left the band on a good note to pursue his other band The Rentals. Mikey Welsh took Matts place.

In 2001, the band played shows in unannounced places. Then they booked shows for the 2001 Warped Tour. It was sold out. Weezer was back. After another sold out tour in the fall of 2001, they continued writing and practicing new material in Los Angeles. The band then released a Christmas EP and then shortly before the new year, they began work on the Green Album. It was a success. They did a performance on the MTV music awards. Mikey Welsh left the band, and checked into a drug rehab center

Then then got a new bassist who is the current one, Scott Shriner. In 2002, they came out with maladroit, there fourth album its hits that went into music videos were Dope Nose and Keep Fishing. The CD did incredibly good and in the summer of 2002,they went on another tour. Weezer is still together today and they tour is still going on.
