LeAnn Rimes was born on August 28th, 1982 in
Jackson, Mississippi. LeAnn exhibited a brilliant talent for
performing from a young age; she began singing at the age of two.
People were astonished to hear such an amazing voice from such a
young child. Many remarked about her likeness to Patsy Cline.
When LeAnn's family moved to Texas, she found
the opportunities to sing The Star-Spangled Banner at
various sports events and the National Cutting Horse Championships
in Fort Worth. At the young age of five, she won her first Song and
Dance competition, and knew that was the direction she wanted to
take her life. A year later, she performed in her first stage
production, the musical entitled A Christmas Carol.
She played the part of Tiny Tim.
At seven, her parents recorded an album to sell
at gigs. At eight years old, LeAnn was a two-week champion on the
television show, Star Search. She also appeared regularly on
Johnnie High’s Country Music Review in Fort Worth.
Four years later at age eleven she recorded
her first album All That, which was produced by her father
at Norman Petty's studio in Clovis, New Mexico. The album featured
the song Blue which had been written by Bill Mack before
Patsy had died a year earlier. LeAnn sung the song so well that
Curb Records signed her on. She then later won Best New
Artist, Best Female Country, and
Best Country Song at the 1997 Grammy Awards. Later that
year at the Billboard Awards she won another six honors, including
Artist of the Year.
In October of 1998, How Do I Live became
the most successful United States single of all-time, completing
an amazing sixty-nine consecutive weeks on the Billboard
chart. She also played a cameo role in Coyote Ugly, and has
performed a duet with acclaimed singer and song writer, Sir Elton
John.
On her new Curb Records release, Twisted
Angel, LeAnn Rimes has emerged with a new set of songs: four
of which she co-wrote herself, and all of which reflect the
growth she has achieved over the last few years. LeAnn has an
undisputed great talent, and no doubt will go on to even greater
heights and feats.
