An accomplished singer/songwriter from Canada Alanis Morissette began writing her own material at age nine. And had her first Canadian domestic single at the age of 10. She tends to shy away from her first two albums that was strongly pushed in a pop rock direction. A stay on the Nickelodeon television shows you can’t do that on television followed. Worldwide attention was paid to Alanis with the release of her third. The album with co-collaborator Glenn Ballard (Co-writer of Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror) was released on Madonna’s Maverick Records.

The album Jagged Little Pill in 1995 which featured guest appearances by members of Red Hot Chili Peppers. With hits like “You Oughta Know” “Hand In My Pocket” “Ironic” and “You Learn” the album debut on the billboard music charts at No. 1. An 18-month tour, which started in local clubs and ended in sold out arenas. Award after award came Morissette’s way in 1995 in what was a memorable year for the 21-year-old singer. By 1998 Jagged little Pill had sold 16 million copies in the US and 28 million worldwide.

After a brief hiatus from the business Alanis resurfaced and in 1998 released Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. With her fourth offering to the music world Alanis once again top the charts when Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie debuted at No. 1. With hits like “Thank U” “Unsent” and “So Pure” the album was a worldwide success. "I see every recording I’ve done as a snapshot of that time in my life. I feel fulfilled when I feel the songs were inspired and representative of myself in the moment."

In 1999 Alanis graced the stage at the Brooklyn’s Academy of Music for the MTV Unplugged album. Reworking past material and performing never before released songs which included “That I Would Be Good,” Alanis showed she was more than a great singer by making appearances on the big screen in Kevin Smith’s film Dogma, when she played God, and also on the small screen in HBO’s Sex in the City series, as well as in the off Broadway play “Vagina Monologues”

She returned to the studio for her fifth album “Under Swept Rug” that was released in February 2002 And produced by Morissette was a return to the same elements that brought her to the forefront in 1995 with Jagged Little Pill. Alanis has sold over 40 million albums worldwide and has toured all over the world. .
