Kidd Video

Genre:

Kidd Video. Never heard of this group?!? This group started out as being a half hour Saturday morning cartoon show. Needless to say, the group did manage to tour and create some interesting music in the 80's. Big Hair and the colorful clothes made this group seem go. The main person people might recognise in this group is Robbie Rist (guitar). Robbie played on the show Brady Bunch as little cousin Oliver. He also appeared in a few other shows and some movies along with some after school specials. The rest of the group is: Bryan Scott (lead vocal mostly), Gabriele Bennett (drums) and Steve Alterman (keyboard). Rist and Alterman could swap back and forth with intruments as in some of the videos you see Rist playing keyboard and Alterman palying guitar.

Kidd Video consisted of the characters: Kidd, Carla, Ash, and Whiz. (Order as above with Whiz being Rist) All nicknames from the cartoon itself. The videos (original works) came at the end of each cartoon episode, where all of them really sang according to Rist. These characters were rehearsing one day in a wearhouse where the main villan Master Blaster decided to take them to the Flip Side. Their only hope of rescue was a fairy called Glitter. Every episode consisted of them trying to find a way home back to the real world.

Unfortunatly, the band did not hit worldwide. In Isreal 1986, they had an album released with the band on the cover and the flipside characters on the back. Pretty cool. They did tour for a short time (In Isreal) before going on to do other things. Rist and Alterman decided to create a new band while Scott and Cathy Cavadini (Glitter) went into acting. Not too much more is heard of this group now a days. The last known broadcast of Kidd Video in the USA was on WGN in 1992. It comes up from time to time in other parts of the world.
