Black Eyed Peas

Genre: Hip Hop

Will.i.am, apl.de.ap, taboo, and a newcomer Fergie, have recently released their album: Elephunk. The band, called Black Eyed Peas, started in Los Angeles and have become one of the most popular Hip-Hop groups around.

Black Eyed Peas Started in 1989 with friends Will.i.am, and apl.de.ap. first called Atban Klann. They won affection in and around the Los Angeles area and they eventually signed a contract with a record dealer after they attracted the attention of the nephew of Eazy E's Manager, Jerry Heller. However, even though they had a deal, no record was ever recorded.

It wasn't until after adding Taboo to the group, that their first album Behind The Front was recorded, and released in June of 1998. Although this album met with acclaim, the album didn't make an impression nationwide.

Along comes 2000, a fresh new century, and millenium which brought a new album from the Black Eyed Peas, called Bridging The Gap. This album included production skills of DJ Premier, guitars of Wyclef Jean, voices of Jurrasic 5's Chali 2na, De La Soul, Les Nubians, Macy Gray, and Mos Def grace. The album brought more attention nationwide.

Elephunk, the third album started recording in 2001, and it brought a new face to the group, Fergie. After multiple spurts in recording, BEP finally released Elephunk in June of 2003. Their first single from the album Where Is The Love was an instant hit featuring the vocal talents of Justin Timberlake. Another hit single was Shut Up, and with plenty more songs on the album, the Black Eyed Peas will most definitely be a huge success worldwide.
