*2gether is technically a MTV movie that was a spoof on boy band music. The whole story is based on a group called Whoa! who has decided to fire the person who put them together, Bob Buss. When Bob was fired, he decided to get revenge by creating his own boy band group. So thus, he went across the country to find his group of five. His goal had consisted of finding these guys: The heart-throb, the little guy, the bad boy, the shy quiet one and the older brother. First one up, Jerry O'Keefe (played by Evan Farmer) The heart -throb of the group. Buss had found him singing on the streets.
Next, Chad Linus (played by Noah Bastian) and his brother Doug Linus (played by Kevin Farley) Chad was being a bit pushed by his brother to be part of a type of contest where you would get crowned the winner. (can't remember the name of the contest...but it was like a Miss Universe type of thing) Bob had heard Chad singing for his talent and wanted him on. Doug said that if he took Chad, he would have to go too. So you have your quiet shy type and your big brother of the group.
On the hunt for finding the group, Whoa! has been singing more and more and becoming a slight bit more powerful until Bob had made a comment that they were lip syncing the songs done up by another group. Still two more guys to go...The guys decided to park at a skate park type of place when they hear cocky-minded Mickey Parke (played by Alex Solowitz). Mickey has a bit of a temper and a good singing voice. After placing the bet to go with them if Jerry won in arm wrestling, he was on his way with the group. Such a bad boy was Mickey that he even went to a burger joint and was beating on the menu taker in the drive through. Last but certainly not least was Q.T. McKnight (played by Micheal Cuccione). Q.T. was singing karoke at a burger/bar place. His mom was also there talking to Bob. Q.T. was diagnosed with a terminal illness that Bob took for a bit more into the bad. Just imagine, the little guy that you felt bad for with an illness! Thus the group 2gether was formed.
At the end of the movie they had botched up Whoa!'s mini music concert at a mall. Whoa! of course lip syncing one of their songs was easy to undo since Jerry's girfriend had came along and flipped the switch. Making Whoa! look like morons, they were booted off the stage where 2gether decided to start singing. The crowd loved them and that is how the group was formed.
The group really does the vocals and sings on the cd. This was found out after the movie was played on MTV one day and an announcer was asking if it was real or not. The songs are rather commical and silly, but they can harmonize and get your attention. Which makes them a must for having just because this was one of MTV's original movies. After the movie, they tried a show based on the characters. It did not seem to do as well as the movie though.
