Sean Connery

Sean Connery was born in 1930 into a working class background in Glasgow, Scotland UK; the oldest of two boys ,his younger brother being Neil. At age nine (9), he began his working life delivering milk before school. Sean left school at the age of fourteen (14 ) to work for the dairy full time, money for the family being tight. He joined the Royal Navy at the age of eighteen (18) where, like most sailors of the time he got tattoos; one "Mum and Dad," the other "Scotland Forever".

After 3 years of Naval service, he was discharged with a stomach ulcer and returned to Scotland where he worked as a bricklayer, lifegaurd and coffin polisher. He spent much of his spare time bodybuilding and in 1950, after the advice of a friend, he entered Mr. Universe and came in third in the tall man's division. Following this, Sean had many bit parts in films and theatre and modelling jobs until 1958 when he got his big break starring opposite Lana Turner in the movie "Another Place, Another Time." In just four years he became an international celebrity, after his starring role as James Bond in "Dr. No" there followed a decade of Bond roles.

In 1957 he met actress Diane Cilento, an Australian from Brisbane. They met on the set of the theatre play "Anna Christie" and then again when the play was made into a movie, where they fell in love. The pair married in Gibraltar in 1960 and son Jason was born in 1963. Sadly they divorced in 1973, their separation attributed to Sean's punishing work schedule.

In 1974, Sean broadened his career with his role in Agatha Christies' "Murder on the Orient Express" Following with a whole range of films. In 1970, Connery had met Micheline Boglio Roquebrune at a golf tournament in Casablanca. For Micheline, it was love at first sight. She maintains that she did not know then that he was an actor. In 1975, Sean and Micheline married in Gibraltar and then traveled to Casablanca for their honeymoon. Connery's second wife is considered a skillful opposite number in negotiations and has often negotiated Sean's contracts with studios and filed lawsuits against producers and agents on his behalf.

In 1984, an older and, some believe more suave Connery returned to play Bond in "Never Say Never Again." It was to be his last Bond Movie. In 1989, aged 60, Sean Connery was voted "Most Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine; when told of the award he remarked "Well there aren't many sexy dead men, are there" In 1999, they voted him the "Sexiest Man of the Century."

The 1990's brought such films as "The Rock," "Just Cause" and "The Hunt for Red October" proving Connery's ability to still be both a versatile actor and an action man. In July 2000, Sean Connery was knighted Sir Sean Connery by Queen Elizabeth II in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Newest films Finding Forrester, 2000 and The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, 2003 (just out for rental and purchase).
